Good Pair of Headphones for Under $50

While some of the more complex features for headphones are unavailable for purchases below $50, it is still very much possible to get a very good pair of headphones for under $50. Herein, a few examples of good headphones for under $50 will be given.

Sennheiser HD 201 and 202

Sennheiser’s HD201 headphones are a fantastic choice of headphones for anyone seeking a pair for under $50. I personally use this particular pair of headphones and I would say they outperform most headphones in the under $100 range as well. In fact, anything in the Sennheiser range tends to be quite good and some of the older models are becoming very cheap, with the HD201 and HD202 models available on Amazon for under $20. There are links to the right of the screen for all of these products.

It is important before starting that as a buyer you attempt to be as open-minded as possible and to try to avoid the general fan approach, a good product is a good product no matter who designs it. Unless you have particularly negative experience or have reason to believe a brand particularly lacking, it is best to consider as many of the major brands as possible.

Basically, it is hard to go wrong with Sennheisser, as a general rule.

Sony

Sony are another great audio hardware company that really produces great hardware. While I personally would not say they are as generally good as Sennheiser, one of the things Sony has going for it is that they produce superior solutions when portable or outdoor equipment is needed. The sound quality difference between Sony and Sennheiser in the under $50 price range is not particularly dramatic, but if you intend to use the headphones outdoors or running with your ipod, etc, Sony may be a good choice.

For example, the Sony MDRZX100/WHI Outdoor Headphones are far superior to most of Sennheiser’s solutions if you intend to take the headphones around with you, such as with your iPad. They are available from Amazon to the right as well, the white pair.

Phillips

I am not sure why Phillips do not get more attention to their audio products, because they produce some of the highest quality audio around. I found myself requiring a pair of headphones for under $50 and unable to to find any that belonged to brands I trusted. As a result, I was forced to buy the only pair of headphones I could, which happened to be made by Phillips. When I got them home I not only found that they may have been the best pair of headphones I had used, but that they had almost universally strong features.

It turns out that it is possible to get a pair of Phillips headphones with noise-cancelling for under $50, the Phillips HN110 noise cancelling headphones. There is a link to them on Amazon to the right.

Conclusions

It is very possible to buy a good pair of headphones for under $50, as shown. It all comes down to specific demands, but any of the headphones linked to on the right are good products that will be very unlikely to disappoint anyone buying for under $50.
