List of Chatterbots
The ultimate list of chatterbots to converse with. This list includes details on a large collection of chat bots as well as information on some very useful bots for applications such as Skype. This list is not arranged in any particular order.
Cleverbot
Cleverbot is one of the more popular chat bots, providing some of the funnier responses.
Clownfish for Skype
Clownfish for Skype is actually one of the more useful chat bots around as it essentially converts from one language to another. The idea is that you install it on Skype and can have text-based conversations with people that use other languages. It also functions as a general chat bot as well, similiar to ALICE bot. It is a free, 600kb (less than a megabyte) download and perhaps the 'best' chatter bot in terms of usefulness. It also includes functions such as the ability to record skype conversations, to alter the sound of your own voice with audio fx, and includes a talking robot replacement.
iGod
iGod pretends to be god, giving you the opportunity to ask god questions or to confess. While it does a fairly poor job of portraying a deity, it can be fun to muck around with.
Obaid
I am not sure what Obaid bot is meant to be precisely, but it seems like basically any other chat bot to me. For some reason it is one of the more popular, perhaps popular in some specific cultural context.
ALICE bot
ALICE is one of the earlier chat bots, but one of the better ones. It was based on the Eliza psychiatrist chat bot and was initially designed to answer forms. It won the 2000 Loebner Prize for aritificial intelligence..
John Lennon Bot
This chat bot pretends to be John Lennon, though it does not really do a very good job of emulating his humor. However, the fun of using it is more as a trivia bot. Ask it a question relating to John Lennon's life and it almost certainly knows the answer.
Elbot
A robot chat bot that is one mof the better animated and more humorous ones around. It borders between a game and a covnersationalist, with various buttons and things to press to activate features. This particular conversationalist is said to use 'natural' language processing. Unlike cleverbot, this bot in theory has a much stronger grasp of language rather than simply learning common responses to phrases. Unfortunately, this means that it comes across as less intelligent than bots such as Cleverbot whereas in reality it is actually more intelligent.
Ellaz
A very effective bot that gives pretty humerous responses. One of the more intelligent ones around, but sometimes very annoying. Perhaps the most realistic model of human behaviour on the internet?
Eliza Bot
Eliza is a computerized psychiatrist and amongst the earliest of chat bots. This one essentially was the pre-cursor to Alice bot.
Mr Mind
Mr Mind is a twist on the chat bot concept in that the goal of Mr Mind is to convince it that 'you' are a human. In this way it is showing how difficult it truly is to identify what makes human intelligence true intelligence.
