Associated Content Review

Associated Content, now part of the Yahoo Contributor Network, is one of the better paying online writing opportunities. It works by publishing your article on their website alongside a collection of Google Advertisements and then paying writers a combination of upfront payments alongside payments per article view. Overall, Associated Content is a good opportunity but making a living using it is near impossible.

Associated Content Pros and Cons:

How much can be made:

Minimum of $1.50 per 1000 visitors to your article
Lowest payment for an article: $1.50 per 1000 visitors to your article
Highest payment for an article: $2.00 per 1000 visitors + upfront bonuses
Extra paid for inviting others: $0
Threshold payment value: $1.50
Payment method: Paypal, at the end of the month

Pros:

An honest organization
Organization has good leadership, including ex-google executives
Get paid based on how many people view your content
Get paid bonus for early publications
Assignment system which offers desired publications available for writing
Very easy to use

Cons:

Must give your full name
Must be over 18 and a citizen of the United States for upfront payment (can still be paid performance payment if outside US)
Require tax forms when you earn over $500

Overall:

One of the better ways of making money online, relatively fast and interesting
Hosting your own website and adding articles is better if you can build up the content and have the skills, if not Associated Content may be a viable alternative

Community:

A lot of nice, helpful people that will provide useful advice on writing both online and offline
Sometimes a little aggressive though, approach the forums with a thick skin
