Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones Review

The Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones are getting a little old now but may still be found at various stores. Herein the positives and negatives of the Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones will be explored.

The Positives

  • Well Constructed
  • Can take a shock
  • Comfortable
  • Adequate sound quality for price
  • Long cord

Given their price, the Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones do pretty well as one would expect of them. They are well built, lasting years for me despite being quite rough with them on a few occasions. The design is such that they are quite comfortable and do not place pressure on the ears, as well as trap heat. The sound quality is pretty good really, crisp and clear but lacking any real strength behind it. This is to be expected given that they are headphones and not particularly pricey headphones at that. The long cord is also a benefit.

The Negatives

  • Sound can be tinny
  • Not the greatest bass

Truthfully, given the price, the MDR-XD100 Headphones really do not have any strong negatives. The sound quality can be a little tinny at times, but the headphones are fairly cheap and such is to be expected. The same can be said of the bass, which while adequate is hardly earth shaking. Overall, these flaws are not overcome by the overall quality of the unit, and given their age they may be even cheaper now than before.

The Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones are a fairly good product and if they can be bought for a low enough price, such as under $50 new, are worth it for those that need a reliable set of headphones.
